Largest offshore deck ever built in the
Netherlands
Heerema Zwijndrecht was awarded the fabrication contract of the
11,000-tons weighing Valhall Re-Development Integrated Production
& Hotel Facility deck a few years ago. During the last phase of
the construction and commission of the largest offshore
deck ever built in the Netherlands, Heerema asked for the
support of Aggreko.
Aggreko supplied 3 x 350 kVA generators during the
commissioning phase of the offshore deck.
As load demand changed day by day
generators were set on load on demand. In addition a
rental load bank of 5MW was used to test the
two 3,5MVA generators on board. Finally a total cooling system was
provided to simulate an offshore cooling seawater
system. The project started already in 2009, but is still
ongoing.
Recently the Valhall main deck has set course
to offshore Norway for installation. Aggreko supplied 2 x 200kVA
offshore generators on the Valhall which are being
used during transport and installation to supply power for the
lighting and crane.
